Separate DataMatrix decoding from printed-text and platform checks
A symbol decodes, but the carton’s printed expiry date differs from the encoded date. A decoder alone has completed its job; the mismatch requires an additional text observation and a comparison rule. Missing expected data, a repeated identifier and a network failure also need explicit responses agreed with the system owner.

What decides the reader price on an Egyptian pharmaceutical line
Whether the line only decodes the DataMatrix or also checks the printed text beside it decides between a dedicated reader and a smart camera with OCR. Carton speed and the number of faces to read set the rest.

Prepare a useful assessment request
Prepare pharmaceutical cartons with the specified module size and print formats, representative field lengths, good and faulty payloads, and approved production records. Include serialization-system documentation, network and PLC interfaces, reject controls and the responsible software contact. Identify separately any formal grading requirement.

Questions before requesting a quotation
How much does a DataMatrix reader cost in Egypt?
It depends on whether the station only decodes the code or also verifies the printed text, and on speed and interfaces. A handheld for investigations and a fixed reader for the line are separate products. addaScan quotes in USD with each item and the integration scope listed.
Does a DataMatrix reader make a pharmaceutical line EPTTS compliant?
No. Reading supplies optical data. Product scope, serial records, aggregation, regulatory exchange and accepted system behaviour require separate specifications and responsible owners. The linked EDA-based guide explains the field-level inspection boundary.
Must the date beside the code look identical to the encoded date?
Compare the approved semantic date and applicable formatting rule. A readable local presentation can differ from an encoded representation. Define that comparison explicitly instead of matching character strings blindly.
Can one quotation include the reader and software interface?
Yes, when the scope and responsibilities are agreed. Identify the host system, message specification, acknowledgement and recovery behaviour before pricing integration; the reader-only quotation does not establish those functions.
