Vision inspection systems for Egyptian production lines

addaScan is a Johannesburg-based machine vision integrator that designs vision inspection stations and supplies industrial code readers for factories in Egypt; where site work is agreed, its engineers travel from Johannesburg, and quotes are in US dollars. Assess vision inspection systems for pharmaceutical packs, food packaging and suitable manufactured parts in Egypt. addaScan scopes DataMatrix reading, printed-text checks and line integration as distinct functions. A camera or reader can supply evidence for a production decision; it does not by itself implement a pharmaceutical track-and-trace platform or certify regulatory compliance.

Reading a pharmaceutical code is only one part of the decision

A carton’s DataMatrix decodes successfully but the human-readable batch or expiry date does not match the expected record. The station needs the decoded fields, the printed text and a trusted job reference to detect this mismatch. A separate integration must define the response to duplicated identifiers, a missing record or an unavailable serialisation service.

Choose the inspection from the production problem

Define the evidence and the failure response before selecting a camera, then test each choice on your own products and line conditions.

Carton code and textCompare decoded fields and agreed human-readable fields with the active packaging reference.Treat mismatch, no-read and missing expected data as separate exceptions.
Barcode qualityDetermine whether the requirement is operational reading or formal quality grading with a suitable verifier and method.A production reader’s confidence value is not an ISO/IEC grade report.
Packaging versionCheck carton artwork and product variant against the current job before case packing.Prevent a readable code from masking the wrong carton or language version.
Machined part dimensionsFor a separate parts line, review drawings, tolerances, fixturing and surface condition before choosing 2D or 3D measurement.Validate measurement capability; do not transfer pharmaceutical camera performance to component metrology.

Carton print and part features need different stations

Medicine-carton print and machined holes are both visual checks, but they use different optics, fixtures and acceptance rules.

Industrial reader

For reliable symbol decoding with the required interface and field validation.

Reader plus OCR/OCV

For code-to-text and approved-reference comparisons. Scope views, triggering and product tracking together.

Verifier / platform interface

Formal grading and serialisation software have separate equipment and acceptance requirements; make the responsible supplier explicit.

Any EDA-related statement must refer to the applicable current specification and packaging level. Supply your approved implementation requirements with the enquiry rather than assuming that a generic “track and trace camera” includes all regulatory functions.

    Expected fields

Get the current batch, date and identity rules from the responsible system.

  2. 2

    Two observations

Decode the symbol and inspect the relevant human-readable text.

  3. 3

    Defined exception

Handle mismatches, no-reads and unavailable interfaces without inventing a valid record.

Software-owner involvementFor pharmaceutical cartons, bring the serialization or line-software owner into scope definition. Supply sample messages and exception rules before agreeing reader integration.
Separate packaging and metrology trialsIf machined parts are also included, provide their drawings, tolerances and fixture arrangements as a separate assessment. Carton reading results do not establish dimensional measurement capability.

Reader supply, a configured reading point and an integrated station are quoted as different scopes. Freight, import and customs responsibilities, engineering travel, installation, training and support are itemised in USD. How a cross-border quotation is structured

Site work is quoted to the factory’s actual location, for example in Cairo, 10th of Ramadan City, 6th of October City or Alexandria.

Automation partners

Comparing industrial automation companies in Egypt? addaScan’s part is the inspection: it designs vision inspection stations and supplies industrial code readers, and connects them to the PLC, conveyor and reject device that your plant’s automation team, machine builder or local integrator maintains.

Prepare a useful assessment request

Send representative carton surfaces, code size and module size, data examples, date formats, line speed, available views and the software interface specification. For dimensional work, provide drawings and the existing measurement method.

Questions before requesting a quotation

Does addaScan have an office or team in Egypt?
No. addaScan works from Johannesburg, South Africa. Projects are assessed remotely, and agreed site work is done by engineers travelling from Johannesburg, quoted in US dollars with travel itemised.
Does pharmaceutical code inspection include regulatory reporting?
Only a separately specified software interface and workflow can cover that function. Optical decoding, printed-text checks, serial status, aggregation and reporting have distinct responsibilities.
Can the same acceptance test cover cartons and dimensional measurement?
No. Carton checks validate identity and visible print under defined conditions. A dimensional task needs drawings, fixtures, a reference method and measurement-capability validation.
