Vision inspection for dates, batch codes and labels on Nigerian packing lines

addaScan is a Johannesburg-based machine vision integrator that designs vision inspection stations and supplies industrial code readers for factories in Nigeria; where site work is agreed, its engineers travel from Johannesburg, and quotes are in US dollars. Assess automated inspection for sachet dates, bottle labels, moulded closures and visible packaging faults on production lines in Nigeria. addaScan separates the printing machine, the camera decision and the reject mechanism when scoping a project. That distinction matters when the code is present but the date is wrong, blurred or hidden by the film.

A printer signal does not prove the date on the pack

A sachet leaves the printer with part of the batch code folded into a wrinkle. The printer reports a completed cycle, but the camera cannot establish the full text. Treat that result as uncertain, not as a correct code. Improving the view may require guiding the film, changing the inspection position or using a different light before considering a more powerful recognition tool.

Date on a flexible sachetCompare the complete visible code against the current batch and date rule; test wrinkles, reflections and print variation.Keep unreadable evidence separate from a confidently read but incorrect date. Both need a defined product route.
Pouch orientation and sealing areaIdentify which face is presented and whether the required print and seal-area features are visible.Do not approve a hidden region by checking another part of the pack. Visual seal inspection cannot establish leak tightness.
Bottles and labelsCheck the label version, presence and position against the active product reference.Track the mismatched bottle through accumulation and confirm its removal.
Moulded capsAssess visible missing material, flash or damaged edges with suitable lighting and orientation.Set the acceptance limit using real samples; a good external view is not proof of a sound internal seal.

What a sachet date check has to tell apart

A printed date on a flexible sachet can be clear, hidden by a fold, missing strokes or simply the wrong batch. Each state needs its own result and its own action.

Printer feedback only

Useful for machine status, but not independent evidence of the actual characters on every pack.

OCR/OCV station

Compare the visible text or approved character pattern with the job reference. Validate permitted formats and ambiguous characters on sample packs.

Reader plus inspection

Add barcode reading where a code carries identity. Include pack tracking and controls if the result must cause a reliable line action.

If a label or pharmaceutical code is driven by a regulatory requirement, supply the approved specification with the enquiry. A camera can check selected visible fields; it does not register a product or certify its legal compliance.

Automation partners

Comparing industrial automation companies in Nigeria? addaScan’s part is the inspection: it designs vision inspection stations and supplies industrial code readers, and connects them to the PLC, conveyor and reject device that your plant’s automation team, machine builder or local integrator maintains.

Prepare a useful assessment request

Provide the actual film, print samples, allowed date formats, good and faulty packs, printer signals, line speed and available reject distance. State how an operator should handle an unreadable pack after it has been removed.

Photos, drawings and samples are arranged after initial contact.

Questions before requesting a quotation

Does addaScan have an office or team in Nigeria?
No. addaScan works from Johannesburg, South Africa. Projects are assessed remotely, and agreed site work is done by engineers travelling from Johannesburg, quoted in US dollars with travel itemised.
What happens when only part of a sachet date is visible?
Treat it as an uncertain read and follow the agreed hold or reject route. Do not complete missing characters from the printer signal or from the preceding pack.
Can better software solve every wrinkle problem?
No. If the required characters are hidden, first assess film guidance, lighting and inspection position. Recognition needs a view containing the evidence.
